The Mind and Body Connection of the Pilates Method.
The goal for our students is to achieve their own personalized, optimal results from our Pilates method. We provide this by instructing students to concentrate on their movements during exercises, as well as focusing on their alignment, breathing, and balance. When the mind is focused on controlling these aspects, students becomes more aware of how their body is responding to the exercises, and can then quickly determine with an instructor how to best enhance their physical results.
Our method also heavily focuses on the body’s center because core-strength is a primary foundation to the successful execution of Pilates. The body’s core is the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. When these muscles are strong from a consistent and dedicated Pilates routine, they then move as they were created to move, giving the entire body an improved flexibility, increased strength, and recognizable endurance in day-to-day activities.
With the mind and body working in harmony, it permits unlimited modification of many exercises based on the student’s needs, limitations, or desire for more challenging exercises.
